COATS THAT EVERYONE SHOULD OWN

11 Nov

Since the winter is fast approaching and we are well into the start of the coat wearing season, I thought I’d give a run down of the coats that every girl should have in her arsenal.

The Military Jacket

Everybody needs a good military jacket in their closet (see this week’s coveted item  for more details about the one I currently want!) They come in all sorts of shapes and colours and so it is almost impossible not to find one that looks good. They’re great for winter, keeping you warm but looking great at the same time. It’s a classic staple.

The Trench Coat

Trenches, made famous mostly by Burberry, are a classic like the military jacket but are far more versatile than most other coats. For an example, just check out the Burberry come Quality Street girls from SS13. However, saying that, you can never ever go wrong with a staple camel trench.

The Biker Jacket

I am a huge fan of the biker jacket. It adds a definite edge to any outfit and is an easy way to deal with those autumn to winter transitions whilst staying warm. I personally love the Topshop offerings; each year they change the collar according to trends. I have a shearling version from 2 years ago and a friend has hers studded from last year.

The Cape

My personal favourite coat style! I love the way the silhouette (or lack of) that they give you, lets you hide all that winter padding without compromising on style.  Though slightly impractical on sleeve length and choosing which bags to go with it, I don’t even care because they’re so warm and cosy! This Temperley London beauty is ideal for this purpose.

The Minimalist

My personal favourite minimalist design was the pink Jil Sander coat. There is just something so cosy about the thought of cocooning yourself in such a huge coat and blocking out all the winter winds. The minimalism is also a great way to be able to wear great printed scarves and gloves without looking too patterned and tacky.

I am really looking forward to when it gets really cold outside!
