Many of you will want to be ringing in the New Year in style and here are my top tips to nail both the glamour and appropriateness that any event requires!

Cocktail Party

A great jumpsuit and some even greater accessories are the perfect way to navigate a cocktail party on NYE, making a statement whilst also maintaining the put-together look that many of us crave.  I love this one from Zara for £29.99 down from £39.99.

All-out bash

A NYE bash is one of the few times where it is acceptable for any girl to be knockout glamorous.  This Valentino intense-red gown is sure to get heads to turn, alongside its price tag of £2675! Perhaps next year?

House Party

Personally, I will be attending a house party this year and figured that a block coloured but statement cut dress will be perfect for achieving a standout look without being overdressed. I picked up this Aqua by Aqua piece in the sale for £31.50, down from £75! All I need now is the perfect set of heels (and a LOT of boob-tape!).

Quiet family celebrations

Whilst you still want to look fabulous when going into the New Year, sometimes the occasion just doesn’t justify overdressing. This Peter Pilotto mini dress with its gorgeous print is the perfect way to manoeuvre the more muted celebration!

What will you be wearing this NYE?

If, like me, there are so many things happening over the holidays that you just don’t have a clue what to wear to it all then I hope that this little guide will help!

The Christmas Party is always a hard one to decipher the dress code of. Should you be all out glamorous or comfortable and casual? A great pair of trousers and some killer heels is a great way to have both!

When seeing friends over the holidays, you always want to look your best.  Great jeans and a gorgeous top are the perfect complement to your G&Ts!

I personally find that finding something both lovely enough to warrant a compliment yet roomy enough to allow room for those extra helpings of turkey is such a task. A shift dress if the best way to manoeuvre this!

The one day of the year where you can dress as glamorous as you like and nobody can judge you! This year I will be going after a relatively plain dress with statement accessories to ooze style as I approach the New Year.

Do you have any other tips for holiday dressing?

Having recently become the owner of an iPhone, I’ve been on the hunt for a really cute case for it. I’ve seen some of Marc by Marc Jacobs cases and covers before so I decided to check them out and I came across this adorable one!

Anyone who knows me will know that I absolutely adore dogs, especially Boston Terriers and so I basically squealed when I saw this! It’s £40 so not totally extortionate and has headed right up to the top of my Christmas list!

Its got little ears and everything! I WANT I WANT I WANT!! If only they made a Pug one too…

Usually, I am an avid follower of the Best Dressed of the Week list and this week was no exception. Towards the beginning of the gallery there were some great ensembles from such fashion icons as Diane Kruger and Kate Moss and the majority of the rest of the gallery were also fantastic. My personal favourite was this nude Valentino gown as worn by Lea Michele.

I am a huge fan of her new, more grown up look and she looks so gorgeous in this gown. The colour goes greatly with her olive skin tone and the glamour of her hair and make up really make this dress scream ”siren”.

And proving that it isn’t just the evening glamour that can get you on the best dressed list is Miranda Kerr (who is quite possibly the best dressed mother in the world!).

Miranda Kerr

My annoyance doesn’t stem from these gorgeously dressed ladies. It comes from the fact that Vogue seem to think that the following people count as some of the ‘best dressed’ people in the world this week.

Firstly, Rihanna. As I’ve mentioned previously, I tend not to be that much of a fan of Rihanna’s style and feel that she tries far too hard to shock and make ‘statements’. The outfit she managed to get on this coveted list this week is appalling. She literally looks like one of those girls that you see around university campuses who clearly haven’t done any washing in a while and/or are a bit beyond ever looking neat and put-together. Everybody knows the exact type of girl I’m talking about. This look looks like she has just rolled out of bed and thrown on her nearest clothes. However, knowing about how much time Rihanna puts into her style, this was a much calculated decision, which just makes it all the worse.

On the opposite end of the worst-dressed spectrum is Anne Hathaway. Anne is so beautiful and usually looks dressed to perfection but obviously isn’t going to make the same effort she makes to walk her dog as she does on the red carpet. In this outfit, she clearly just rolled out of bed, wanted a little privacy and threw on her least glamorous yet most comfy clothes in order to get that. This outfit DOES NOT warrant a place on the best-dressed list. EVER.

I’m seriously considering writing a strongly worded letter to demanding to know why both I and the homeless person who sits outside Costa Coffee have not been included on their best-dressed list this week.

What do you think? Am I being too harsh?
